OUTDOOR PLANTS
"We can complain
because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn
bushes have roses." -- Abraham
Lincoln
Trees and shrubs add beauty
and variety to your outdoor garden and lawns. Trees are
perennial plants and provide beauty, function and body to
the landscape.
Though trees and shrubs require little care you need to
follow some procedures.
A few tips for trees and shrubs:
- Dig a hole that is large enough for
the roots to settle inside comfortably (breadth of the
hole to be about half the shrub roots diameter).
- Mix some peatmoss in the soil while
planting.
- While replacing shrub from a container
dig a hole that is 2 inches deeper than the roots of the
plant and loosen the soil under the roots.
- Heap loose soil around new plant.
- Water the plant for two weeks consecutively.
- For trimming, branches should be cut
above the bud in a slanting direction to allow shrubs
to grow back quickly.
